SGD Fire Protection Ltd Completes Fire Safety Upgrade at Daisy Haye

SGD Fire Protection Ltd successfully enhanced fire safety at Daisy Haye Care Home in Staffordshire by installing a robust 60-minute fire compartmentation system. This project, delivered in partnership with Jackson Jackson and Sons Ltd, addressed critical safety concerns in a live care home environment, reinforcing SGD’s commitment to protecting vulnerable residents and dedicated staff through expert passive fire protection.

This was an essential project and has significantly enhanced the fire safety of the facility, ensuring the protection of its vulnerable residents and dedicated staff.

When initially engaged, the care home operated under a “stay-put policy,” but lacked adequate fire compartmentation, posing a significant risk to both life and property. Upon the recognition of the urgent need for improved fire protection, SGD Fire Protection Ltd installed a robust 60-minute fire compartmentation system to create a safer environment in the event of a fire.

Project Objectives & Execution

The objective was to enhance the facility’s fire protection measures, particularly under its existing “stay-put” policy, which lacked adequate fire compartmentation and posed significant risks to both residents and staff.

In collaboration with Jackson Jackson and Sons Ltd, SGD installed a comprehensive 60-minute fire compartmentation system, tailored to the specific needs of a live care home environment. The project scope included:

  • Installation of Rockwool EN Barrier system

  • Dual-layer application of FF1 fire-resistant materials

  • Full fire-rated compartmentation across all loft spaces

Careful planning, dedicated site management, and clear communication ensured the work progressed efficiently with minimal disruption to residents and staff.
